Westminster Schools of Augusta is a Pre-K through 12 regionally-accredited, coeducational, college-preparatory, Christian day school enrolling over 500 students. The 34-acre campus is located in a residential section of Augusta, which is Georgia’s second largest metropolitan area. The school is affiliated with First Presbyterian Church of Augusta (PCA), but the student body and faculty include members from more than 90 different local churches of various denominations.

LOWER SCHOOL DIRECTOR OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT (Full-time)
Responsibilities
Works closely with the Middle/Upper School Director of Academic Support to maintain consistency of Academic Support Pre-K through 12
Serves as an Academic Coach for grades K-5
Reviewing documentation of incoming students/new applicants when needed.
Reviews and interprets educational testing and writes Academic Support Plans
Makes recommendation and suggests and/or implements additional evaluations based on meeting and review of student needs
Oversees implementation of Academic Support Plan and works with classroom teachers to manage accommodations
Oversees Academic Coachs and assists with training
Observes Academic Support students as needed in classroom and resource setting
Communicates weekly with classroom teachers to track student progress
Communicates regularly with parents
Attends all parent-teacher conferences of students in the program
Schedules and leads follow-up conferences with parents, students and teachers in August, December, and April to review progress and accommodations
Maintains files and accurate records of students in the program
Assists with planning and professional development training of faculty regarding learning disabilities and best practices
Practices confidentiality in regard to students in the program, their Academic Support Plans, accommodations, and handling of paperwork/documents deemed confidential to the AS program
May work with administrators and curriculum coordinators as needed to review curriculum needs, test scores, and overall student school program in terms of student support
Maintain a list of outside educational testing providers
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field, Master's Degree preferred
3+ year’s experience teaching students in a variety of classes and age groups
Extensive knowledge of learning differences and instructional strategies
Orton Gillingham teaching experience required. OG Certification preferred
