Westminster Schools of Augusta is a Pre-K through 12 regionally-accredited, coeducational, college-preparatory, Christian day school enrolling over 500 students. The34-acre campus is located in a residential section of Augusta, which is Georgia's second largest metropolitan area. The school is affiliated with First Presbyterian Church of Augusta (PCA), but the student body and faculty include members from more than 90 different local churches of various denominations.

Elementary Education Teacher

Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in Education and previous Elementary teaching experience.

General Qualifications

  • Evidence of a mature personal Christian faith consistent with the Westminster Statement of Faith

  • Evidence understanding of, and a commitment to, Christian education and the ability to articulate a Biblical worldview

  • Bachelor or Master of Education in Elementary Education or Child Development

  • Three to five years of instructional experience as an Elementary teacher

  • Hold, or be eligible for, state or ACSI certification as an Elementary teacher

  • Ability to work collaboratively with school administration and colleagues

  • Ability to connect and communicate with students and to partner with parents

  • Establish and communicate clear learning objectives

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate instructional strategies to achieve curriculum goals

  • Assess and evaluate students’ performance on a regular basis

  • Ability to use technology in the classroom as an instructional tool

  • Set and maintain acceptable standards of classroom behavior conducive to an orderly learning environment

  • High standards of professional conduct and strong commitment to advance school mission

Primary Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of all subject areas taught.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of developmental characteristics of age group taught.

  • Effectively utilize the basic elements of instruction.

  • Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans including instructional objectives, planned activities, Biblical integration, assessment, and resources.

  • Incorporate classroom technology in order to enhance instruction.

  • Implement effective classroom management and discipline procedures to provide for a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.

  • Regularly review/update curriculum guides to ensure proper instructional priorities and pacing.

  • Model effective teacher/parental partnering through timely communication with parents in support of student learning.
